A happy place to work – Fredrik
Fredrik Brorsson started working at CONVENDUM right after graduating in 2018 and is now in his sixth year. Read more about why Fredrik has chosen to stay at his workplace and why he recommends CONVENDUM as an employer.
Tell us about your CONVENDUM journey, how long have you worked at CONVENDUM?
“I had my first day on February 1st of 2018. So, it has almost been 5 years. I was a recent graduate after studying business administration for three years at Stockholm University. This was my first full-time job. I had no idea then how lucky I was to end up here!”
Why do you enjoy working here?
“Where do I start? The coffee is great! We who work at CONVENDUM use our own premises, which is why we also get to experience the nice offices in the middle of the city. The finance department has moved around a bit, so I have worked on several Coworking spaces. CONVENDUM Västra Järnvägsgatan 3 and CONVENDUM Vasagatan 16, which are located right next to the central station, are super convenient to get to. Then there is Nybrogatan 17 in Östermalm and Kungsgatan 9 near Stureplan, which is also centrally located and where there are plenty of nice restaurants and shops. I also want to say that my colleagues are a joy to work with. Despite the fact that we have become more and more over the years, we have managed to continue to be a close-knit group in the whole company. We have a very inclusive work culture, and everyone can talk to everyone.”
What does a typical workday look like?
“Of course, we start the day with a good cup of coffee – or two. Some days of the week, we have morning meetings. They are not just to discuss work, but also to build community. Then, those of us in the finance department work together in a shared room. At lunchtime, we have a communal kitchen at the head office, which is very cozy.”
What does your role as Business Controller entail?
“Among other things, I follow up and analyze the financial performance of all our Coworking spaces. We have 16 open today, and there will be more so it is an important work. Furthermore, I work a lot with taking all the data we have and trying to turn it into an understandable picture that helps our management team make important decisions.”
Fredrik started working at CONVENDUM two years after the first Coworking spaces opened at Vasagatan 16 and Regeringsgatan 52 in Stockholm. Since then, Fredrik has grown with CONVENDUM, which has expanded to three different cities and become Sweden’s largest Coworking operator.
What is it like to be a part of CONVENDUM’s expansion journey?
“Challenging – in a good way! CONVENDUM is constantly growing. No year – or quarter – is like the other. This means that we who work here also grow. Before I started at CONVENDUM, I worked part-time as an accounting assistant alongside my studies. I started as an accountant five years ago and since then I have had the opportunity to grow into the role of business controller. And it’s not just me! During my five years here, I have seen it happen time and time again, that a new colleague comes in, shows initiative and grows into a new role with greater responsibility. It happens in all departments all the time!”
What do you think CONVENDUM means for its members and for people in general?
“More than you might think. If you think about it, we spend an incredibly large part of our lives at work. A good office is more than a physical place where you can do your work. It’s a place to thrive. I think that CONVENDUM has contributed to giving many people a better everyday life!”
